Joshua K. Rwolekya is a seasoned and highly respected music leader with a distinguished and impactful history within The Salvation Army, marked by visionary leadership, pioneering service, and a deep commitment to musical excellence and spiritual ministry.
His leadership journey began at the grassroots level, where he faithfully served as Songster Leader of the Quarry Road Songsters Brigade, Nairobi, from 2004 to 2014. During this decade of service, he played a key role in nurturing musical talent, strengthening choral discipline, and enhancing worship through song, leaving a lasting legacy within the brigade.
In recognition of his exceptional leadership and musical insight, Joshua made history when he was appointed the first-ever Territorial Songster Leader for the Kenya Territory, serving from 2006 to 2008. In this pioneering role, he helped shape territorial songster standards, coordinated national songster initiatives, and set foundations that continue to guide songster ministries across the territory.
His influence further expanded at the national level when he served as National Music Director in 2008, where he provided strategic direction for music ministries, coordinated national music programs, and supported corps and divisional music leaders in strengthening Salvation Army music across Kenya.
From 2009 to 2014, Joshua brought his expertise to a broader regional context as Territorial Music Consultant for Kenya East Territory. In this capacity, he offered mentorship, training, and advisory support to music leaders, contributed to policy and program development, and played a significant role in raising musical standards and leadership capacity within the territory.
Since 2019, Joshua K. Rwolekya has been serving as the Territorial Music Director for the Uganda Territory, where he continues to provide visionary leadership, foster musical growth, mentor emerging leaders, and advance The Salvation Army’s mission through vibrant, disciplined, and spiritually grounded music ministry.
Across all his appointments, Joshua is known for his dedication, innovation, and unwavering commitment to using music as a powerful tool for worship, evangelism, and service within The Salvation Army.
